Georgia Public Service Commission Primary Election Recap
The June 17, 2025, primary elections for Georgiaโs Public Service Commission (PSC) are over. Unfortunately, turnout here in Paulding was incredibly low with less than 1% of registered voters casting a ballot. But thankfully, with a runoff on the way, you’ve still got a chance to choose who will steer the state towards a more affordable and sustainable future.
District 2
In District 2, Dr. Alicia Johnson was the only Democrat to qualify and is automatically advancing to the November general election. On the Republican side, Commissioner Tim Echols easily defeated challenger Patty Durand, winning 75% of the vote statewide.
District 3
In District 3, Keisha Sean Waites led the Democratic primary with approximately 46% of the vote, followed by Peter Hubbard with 33% and Robert Jones with about 14%. Daniel Blackman was disqualified due to residency issues.
As no candidate received a majority, Waites and Hubbard will advance to a runoff scheduled for July 15. The winner will face Republican Fitz Johnson (who ran unopposed in the Republican primary) in November.
Critical Information for Paulding County Voters
Due to Democratic turnout being less than 1% of registered voters in the primary, Paulding County Elections has opted to open only ONE voting location for the runoff. That means:
โ
ONLY the Watson Government Complex will be open for early voting and on Election Day
๐ซ The other 20 polling places across the county will NOT be open
This decision is legal โ but it places the burden on voters to be prepared. If you plan to vote in the runoff, you must go to the Watson Government Complex.
